It's our manager who is the imbecile and incapable of managing players.

Sorry, but I can't believe the board would turn around and say, sorry Slav, he's on the playing staff, so he's your problem, knowing Payet was angling for a move.

The club from top to bottom is a fucking shambles. And Bilic can take his fair share of blame.

What Bilic has done has turned fans against Payet and ensured he'll never play for us again. Imagine the vitriol aimed at Payet and his family now if he ever came back regardless of any deal to leave in the summer. Why would he do that even for half a season. He's basically just covered his arse for the fact that he can't pick him. He could have easily said he's injured - lets face it that's the usual excuse when players are fucking about.

Bilic didn't refuse to play for the club in the way Payet has done.
The Palace game is massive for Bilic. If the players put a shift in for him it will demonstrate that they back him over his Payet stance. It might go the other way though and a poor performance may well indicate he has lost the players. I really hope this will bring some unity to the squad and we can push on from this. I also think we should cash in on Payet now and reinvest in the areas we are short in.

Hold up! Didn't bilic do a similar thing leaving us to go to Everton? I remember when he returned to Upton park after the songs sung at him re being a money grabbing cunt!.

VH. If that new ex-whu is accurate in regard to what went on, that's exactly how they played it. Though I hadn't seen it when I wrote that..
"A meeting was called this Monday where the directors and Slav sat down to discuss the situation with Payet and Bilic was told as the manager he has to deal with it. It was his decisions to announce the situation to the press. "

i disagree. With a financial obligation at Payet's contract value it should require main board sign off on any decision or announcement.

Had to do it at tge press conference as it would have been a lot worse if Payet was not in the Sathrday line up...
Doubt many would have believed a dodgy injury story...
And I believe getting it out in the open now will be a boost to team morale, going forward...
I approve. ...

As Willtell highlighted in another thread, if that new ex-whu column is anything to go by, and it probably is, his job is still hanging by a thread..
"A meeting was called this Monday where the directors and Slav sat down to discuss the situation with Payet and Bilic was told as the manager he has to deal with it. It was his decisions to announce the situation to the press. I am hoping now that we have this bad egg exposed and not taking part in training and matches it may unite the other players to perform more as a team and get better results. The problem for Slaven is that he needs to do this against Crystal Palace or the Payet situation could become some other manager’s problem."

Ideally, Bilic will keep his job with us and move us on to entertaining success, where we one day manage to finish top 4 and attract more top players, along with their egos and agents. I'm sure we can agree that that's a good outcome to hope for.
Based on that, as a club, we could consider the money that some think would be wasted with Payet not playing while we pay his wages as his value goes down, as an advertising investment, advertising the fact that Bilic and West Ham will take absolutely no shit from dummy spitting players.
Every top player is fully aware how good Payet is (can be), they know he is a superstar, and they should know Bilic is fair and honest, and will protect his players if they are fair and honest with him.
This lets all future West ham stars that Bilic is not a manager to fuck with.
As I want Bilic to succeed with us, I think hardball is a price worth paying. The owners better see the sense in this.

Agreed. Palace match is massive now. Win and it will give the other players and Bilic a boost, as well as showing we can win without Payet. Lose and it magnifies the situation x100.

I've no doubt the board knew what Payet was up to, just whether they knew Slaven was going to burst into tears and spill his guts about it at that moment.

My guess is it was Bilic's decision to draw a line under all the fannying about. The board have let him do it, but with the understanding that it is 'his decision.'
Allowing them to share in the glory if it goes well "We backed our manager" and hang him out to dry if it fucks up "Bilic's decision."
